With the weather forecast looking fairly grey and cold, Sunday’s dive was for the tough seasoned dive professionals. Surprisingly, we managed to get 5 dedicated SSAC divers to Bare Island for the 8am start, only losing one to the prospect of a cozy sleep in and a cup of tea on the couch.
After a quick pre dive brief by Hartley who was leading the dive as part of his Dive Leader training we set off round the eastern side of the island with hopes our determination would pay off. We were greeted with much better than expected vis in the 5-7m range and some great marine life to keep us interested. Highlights were a large cat fish lurking under an overhang and an enormous sea snail looking thing (yes that’s the technical term for it) which Sam later pointed out was very poisonous.
Post dive refuelling were big breakfasts and coffees at The Boathouse before the heavy rain really set in for the day.
Another great Sydney shore dive!
