Christmas in July 2025

This year, the club’s Christmas in July was down in Vincentia, Jervis Bay.

We had perfect winter weather with crisp nights and sunny days. A few people stopped off in Nowra on the way down to do Ben’s Walk (that’s its name, not the organiser!), which takes in the somewhat muddy Nowra Creek, but excels with a wobbly suspension bridge, tame  Boobook owl and starts and finishes at the spectacular hanging rock.  On Saturday, there was a scenic stop at Warden Head Lighthouse before heading on to the Pigeon House walk. At 7km, you could be mistaken for thinking it was a short stroll, but the 443m of ascent was a great way to work up an appetite.  The views made it all worthwhile.

Once back at the rambling house, it was time to glam up or pull out the Christmas jumpers or both!  Festivities kicked of with G+T’s, Secret Santa, followed by the multigenerational Lewis feast with all the trimmings. The after-dinner round of Cards Against Humanity got a mix reaction…possible because it was the UK edition?

The morning after, a full-English breakfast set people up for the drive home.
