July ’tis the season for Christmas-in-July, and this year the club was back in the Southern Highlands at the Dixieland Estate, which is just outside historic Birrima.
We had perfect winter weather with crisp nights and sunny days. Saturday kicked off with a full English breakfast before the walking contingent headed 10 minutes down the road to 90 Acre Hill Lookout. As you would guess from the name, it is a large (90 acres, may be) wooded hill but the surprise is you get not one, but two lookouts! After ~9km of wandering up and down the hill, it was into Mittagong for a coffee and cake at Coffee Culture Mittagong.
Once back at Dixielands, it was time to glam up or pull out the Christmas jumpers, then G+T’s, stilton soup, turkey with all the trimmings, Secret Santa and capping it all off, Christmas pud and port. For the night-owls, there was Catan or lounging on the sofa around the fire.
Sunday morning started with back & egg roll, before packing up and heading back to Sydney.
