Clifton Gardens Twilight Dive Feb 24

Waves Shape

The 3rd edition of wreck hunting for the elusive Clifton Gardens yacht … This time in the dark!

Taking advantage of the evening free parking and the opportunity to use the remaining gas in their tanks from the previous dive Hartley and Steve W descended on Clifton gardens armed with a new plan to find the wreck.

Taking a bearing for the big white buoy the wreck hunters took a giant stride off the end of the pier and set to work. Finding the buoy easily optimism was high and the next bearing was found and the divers set off towards the wreck, unfortunately, the team was on the wrong heading. A quick conversation on the dive slate and they were back on track and within a few minutes found the wreck in 15m and after patting themselves on the back for the discovery spent 5 minutes exploring the remains of the yacht and taking photos to prove the find. The rest of the dive was spent under the pier looking for sea horses which proved unsuccessful, with the only marine life a group of trumpet fish (??).

Celebrating the historic wreck discovery beers and pub grub up the road at the Buena rounded out an excellent mid-week dive.

Another great Sydney shore dive!
