Clifton Night Dive 21/5/24

Waves Shape

In the latest installment of the SSAC night dives…

Hartley, Fi, and Steve W arrived at a deserted Clifton Gardens carpark in very chilly drysuit weather.

We managed to score almost dead slack high water, although, with bit of surface wind running we weren’t too sure what conditions to expect underwater.

Dropping down and heading to the end of the pier it was marine life action overload! A school of pipefish, an angry and aggressive crab exerting its dominance, and if that wasn’t enough, a huge bull ray emerged out of the darkness underneath the pier and cruised right past us before disappearing back into the pitch-black water. After this initial excitement there was still plenty to see for the rest of the dive with an octopus, a weird catfish, juvenile cuttlefish, and numerous seahorses all providing entertainment.

Post dive beer and feed at the buena vista rounding out the evening.

Who’s in for the next one?
