Armed with a Sydney Sub Aqua Club banner, reels, shot lines, training notes and looking like a professional BSAC training operation, Mark, Hartley and the Steves hit Clifton Gardens for a full morning of rescue training. As an added bonus we were greeted with some of the best conditions seen at Clifton for a while, albeit, with slightly chilly 15-degree water. With the CCR crew of Ben, Fe, and Andy due to arrive at the very leisurely hour of 11am we set off to get the bulk of the training completed before their arrival.
The training called for AS ascents, controlled buoyant lifts, surface towing, search drills, and rescue management scenarios which were all completed expertly under the guidance of the head trainer Mark Bonnar. Once the training was out of the way it was time for an exploratory dive under the pier and out to the “sea horse Hilton” which was made even more enjoyable in the spectacular visibility.
Post training and CCR shake out we headed for coffee, and without a doubt the best bacon and egg roll in Sydney, up at Bacino Espresso Bar.
