Shelly Beach July 2023

Waves Shape

On what can only be described as a textbook picturesque winter’s morning in Sydney three keen SSAC divers met at Shelly Beach arriving to a refreshingly quiet carpark. With the air temperature a frosty 12 degrees Hartley, Mark, and Steve W geared up with minimal faff and promptly made their way down the hill and across the beach to get in the water.

Luckily for those in wetsuits the water was a manageable 17 degrees and a relaxing dive along the RHS boulders was the call for the morning. The decent visibility provided plenty to see with loads of schooling fish, a juvenile cuttlefish, some very friendly groupers, and a few PJ’s with one unfortunately appearing to have lost a bit of its tail to a hungry neighbour. The dive time and depth for the morning ended up at 53min and 10m respectively.

Post dive coffee was under the heaters at the The Boatshed before departing to get on with the rest of the weekend.

Another great Sydney shore dive!
