Shore diving is back! 8 SSAC divers made it out for a dive…
The weekend before Xmas in Sydney and the SSAC team were out to dive a drift dive in the Kamay Botany Bay National Park where Captain Cook arrived in the 1700’s.
The dive called the Leap has an entry which is 2m jump into the ocean. There was a few other dive groups as the conditions were perfect making the leap busy. After entry, a short fin out to a descent over sand and seaweed to a wall to 21m. The drift then starts as the current gently pushes us along the wall and changing scenery in towards the south head of Botany Bay. Soft sponges, a couple of Weedy Seadragons, and a ray was spotted by the group. Plenty of fish accompanied us on the dive. We pass boulders more walls, finishing with a slow incline up towards the exit. The viz was over 10m and more in places. A wonderful dive with warm pleasant water temperature. A great way to start the festive holidays.
