The Leap July 2024

Waves Shape

The seas were flat and the viz was excellent for a mid-morning drift dive at The Leap, Kurnell. As the photos show, the conditions don’t get much better than this.

After jumping in at The Leap Mark, Fe and the two Steves headed slightly south of east to try to take in as much as possible of the deep wall that lies to the east of the entry. The current, however, had other plans and we only made it to near the end of the deep wall before turning around and drifting, as usual, along the spectacular underwater terrain and sponge gardens, made even more spectacular by the great viz. Along the way we encountered a variety of entertaining critters including a Fiddler Ray, PJs, Weedy Sea Dragons, Squid, and Cuttlefish to name a few. After 61 minutes we had one of the easiest exits possible at the steps.

Post dive festivities were at Milkhouse where we enjoyed the excellent coffee and food, including eagerly devoured Reuben Sandwiches. Another great SSAC shore dive!
